This class will teach you the basics of bowl turning using traditional tools. You will learn different methods of safely mounting the stock to the lathe using faceplates, 4 - jaw chucks, jam chucks and Wormwood screws. You will learn techniques such as riding the bevel, shear scraping and parting the bowl from the tenon. You will have the opportunity to use bowl gouges, detail gouges, scrapers and parting tools.Safety Measures We’re Taking to Keep You SafeSocial Distancing - All of our classes have a low capacity of attendees and will allow for social distancing.Sanitization - Our classrooms, seating areas, and tools are cleaned and disinfected before and after every class. We also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant available to be used during all classes.Masks - Masks are only required to be worn if required by local ordinances. If you prefer to wear a mask, you can bring your own. If you forget to bring a mask we can provide one free of charge. Gloves - Gloves will be provided free of charge if any classes require tools to be shared by multiple attendees during the same class. To schedule a class for an attendee, who is under the age of 18, please contact your local store for details.Do I need any safety equipment or special clothing?Safety glasses will be provided free of charge. No loose clothing should be worn, long sleeves need to be rolled up, long hair needs to be tied back. No open-toed shoes can be worn during classes.Can I cancel if I can't make it?If you wish to cancel, you must do so 7 days before the class start date in order to be eligible for a refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations within 7 days of the class start date. Refunds will not include Eventbrite's fees.
