Known for his self-deprecating style, David Sedaris is an American author and comedian who rose to national prominence with his 1994 collection of essays and short stories titled, Barrel Fever. With a razor sharp wit and a knack for make fun of himself while still somehow maintaining a degree of self-respect, Sedaris is considered by many to be one of American's most intelligent authors. Maintaining an ardent book touring schedule, he has collected a widespread mainstream fan base through his intimate readings with local audiences. In addition to his extensive catalog of essay, short stories and articles, Sedaris is also a regular contributor to NPR's program, This American Life.
