Mamey restaurant at THēsis Hotel has officially registered May 21 as National Mamey Day, a local holiday that will celebrate all-things Mamey. Mamey is an indigenous fruit native to South FL and also the name of chef Niven Patel’s award-winning restaurant in Coral Gables. Known for serving island-inspired menu items, Mamey is based on Chef Patel’s travels throughout Asia, French Polynesia and the Caribbean. The event will take place at Mamey on 3rd, Mamey restaurant’s newly-renovated rooftop oasis.
On May 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. guests are invited to celebrate the island-spirit of Mamey with entertainment by The Peter Bernard Calypso Band, who are known throughout South Florida for steel drums and positive vibes. Additional activations include a live art demonstration by sketch duo, The Architect of Style, who are known for creating custom pieces for beauty and fashion brands Bloomingdale’s, CHANEL, Dolce and Gabbana and many more. The event will also gift brand merchandise to attendees while supplies last. The first 100 guests will receive complimentary light bites and cocktails, including the Mamey Swizzle, a tantalizing blend of light rum, chai tea, coconut milk and (of course) mamey.
