PLIE for the Arts is a culturally inspired organization made up of artists from various performing stars companies in Jamaica. Its mandate is to bring some of the best internationally acclaimed performing artists to the island twice a year. This invited artist will not only perform but host workshops and seminars with local performers, to guide and partially prepare them for international exposure and career advancement.
Amalgamation will be an international dance gala that will feature dancers from Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, Dallas Black Dance, Jessica Lang Dance, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, NDTC, Movements Dance Theatre, and the Stella Marris Dance Ensemble. Two shows will be staged, with one special gala performance at the Little Theatre, three workshops and one 2 hour seminar for dancers, choreographers and dance teachers from all across Jamaica. Two dancers will be selected from the workshop held in Jamaica and will travel to New York to take up the scholarships in the spring of 2018.
