About this event
JEEP Jamaica has come aboard as title sponsor for this event, they are joined by Rubis, Red Bull, and AMSOIL. It is the second official event Jamaica Off-Road Challenge has organized and hosted. The fist one was a huge success with endless excitement!
The JORC navigation rally needs a crew of two to four people to compete against the clock, but unlike the WRC, navigation rallying doesn’t require a special vehicle or expensive safety gear. A completely stock 4x4 vehicle will allow you to compete. There of course will be the Modified Class and Dealer Class that will bring out some of the heftier and rugged vehicles.
The goal is complete the route defined in the instructions at the pace defined in the instructions. Unlike RallyX and performance rallies, a navigational rally is NOT a race . The objective is to always be in the right place at the right time. Timed checkpoints (controls) are scattered along the route, at locations unbeknownst to the competitors. If the instructions are followed precisely, teams will arrive at all controls in the correct order and at the right time.
There will also be an Obstacle Course Challenge that is optional for entrants and this will prove to be an exciting element to the day as it will be a timed challenge with various obstacles for the drivers to negotiate over and through.
Whether you are participating or you just come to Irie Racing Off-Road Park (Temple Hall) to take in the excitement – it is going to be packed with exciting episodes. There will be music and food with a kiddies area to make it truly a Family Fun Day on Saturday, September 26th.
