Overview

WEConnect International is a global non-profit that empowers women business owners to succeed in global markets. Since 2009 the organization has provided certification, training, mentoring, tools & resources as well as peer and corporate connections to women entrepreneurs in our network. Recently, there was partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative in a ground-breaking commitment to action that will see global corporations spending US$1.5 billion with women-owned business over the next 2 years. We currently have chapters in the UK, Canada, China, Australia, Jamaica, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa, Chile, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Turkey and Mexico. The Jamaican chapter was launched in April 2013 at the US Embassy Kingston and has a current membership of 160 women business owners. Being the first of its kind in this region, the organization is seeking, through this conference, to bring together Jamaica’s premier female business leaders to share expertise and professional knowledge with potential entrepreneurs. The conference will also provide a forum for young female entrepreneurs to make their business pitch to potential investors, who will also be present. The Minister of State for Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Sharon Folkes-Abrahams, will deliver the keynote address focusing on the role of women in shaping and encouraging growth in the modern Jamaican economy. The conference is being spearheaded by WEConnect International in Jamaica.
