Arizona Concours d’Elegance will return to Scottsdale Civic Center on Sunday, January 19, 2025, offering a superb showcase of more than 100 rare, classic and historic automobiles and motorcycles. “The Art of Automotive Engineering” was chosen as the theme for the seventh edition of the Arizona Concours.


A professionally judged and curated assembly of rarely seen dream cars and highly valued collector vehicles, the Arizona Concours offers much more than a typical car show. The collection of exceptional vehicles from around the world is designed to impress and excite not only car lovers but anyone who appreciates the beauty of expressive design.


Sixteen classes have been chosen for the 2025 Concours, with awards in each class, along with special awards and the two coveted Best of Show trophies — one for pre-World War II and one for post-war. The Arizona Concours is staged in the atmosphere of a stylish garden party, and period costumes are encouraged for both participants and spectators. A special Concours award is presented for the most enjoyable outfit. 


Each automotive treasure in the Concours is an authentic example, whether original, restored or custom, and they range from the earliest runabouts and “horseless carriages,” through the Art Deco era, to the exotic super sports cars of the modern age.


The 2025 Arizona Concours will be held for the third year at the recently renovated Scottsdale Civic Center. Tickets are available online at ArizonaConcours.org or at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts box office.

Detroit-raised bassist and composer Endea Owens is one of jazz’s most vibrant emerging artists. She has been mentored by jazz icons such as Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter, and she has toured and performed with Wynton Marsalis, Diana Ross, Solange, and Jazzmeia Horn, to name a few.


In 2018, Endea graduated from Juilliard and joined the Late Show with Stephen Colbert as a member of the house band. Since then, Owens has won an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Peabody. In 2022, Owens composed for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra a piece about the life of Ida B. Wells called “Ida’s Crusade”; it was also performed by Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz orchestra. Her debut album, Feel Good Music, arrived in 2023.

World-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has dedicated many of his albums to the great songwriters and performers who helped establish the Great American Songbook and the pop music canon. On his latest album, Stage and Screen, Pizzarelli and his remarkable trio explore the Broadway stage and the silver screen for more immortal songs from the past century.


The album’s cleverly chosen repertoire spans nearly nine decades, starting with a pair of songs from the 1925 musical No, No, Nanette (“I Want to Be Happy” and “Tea for Two”) and leading into the 21st century with “I Love Betsy” from Jason Robert Brown’s Honeymoon in Vegas. In between, there are pieces by such iconic songwriters and composers as Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II, Leonard Bernstein, Sammy Cahn, and Jule Styne, as well as songs immortalized in cinema favorites such as Casablanca.


Pizzarelli is joined by his trio, which features bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson, two tremendous talents with whom Pizzarelli has discovered a scintillating chemistry.

Vivaldi’s Autumn concerto depicts a merry harvest dance and the sleepy countryside. Piazzolla’s Otoño sets a melancholy mood of fall. Michael Schacter’s Five–Six–Seven–Eight takes its title from the count-in familiar to musicians on a bandstand or dancers in rehearsal. Each of the four miniatures is inspired by folk and classical dance styles from around the world.

Charles Lloyd has long been a free spirit, master musician, and visionary. For more than six decades, the legendary saxophonist and composer has loomed large over the music world, and at 86 years old he remains at the height of his powers and as prolific as ever.


His 1966 album Forest Flower: Live at Monterey, recorded at the Monterey Jazz Festival, became one of the first jazz records to sell a million copies. He also headlined other rock palaces, sharing billings with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Cream, the Grateful Dead, and Jefferson Airplane. In 1967, Downbeat voted him Jazz Artist of the Year.


In 2023 and 2024, Lloyd, now an NEA Jazz Master and recipient of the prestigious l’Ordre Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres honor, was again voted Downbeat’s Jazz Artist of the Year, as well as Tenor Saxophonist of the Year.


In Ocean Trio, Lloyd is joined by celebrated pianist Gerald Clayton and guitarist Anthony Wilson.

Photographer Babak Tafreshi has spent his career documenting the unbelievable beauty of the night sky and working to connect people through the shared experience of simply looking up. From the Milky Way to the animals that come out after dark here on Earth, experience visual stories of wildlife, humanity, and the cosmos.

National Geographic Explorer Babak Tafreshi is a photographer and cinematographer who merges art and science through visual stories. Tafreshi created The World At Night program in 2007 with the message of One People One Sky and has been directing its team of photographers in approximately 30 countries. He received the 2009 Lennart Nilsson Award, the world’s most recognized scientific imaging award at the time, for his effort to reconnect humanity with the natural world using night sky images. He has been a National Geographic contributor since 2012, and he is a 2022 National Geographic Society Wayfinder Award recipient.
