Events' Realm

Iset Sankofa forges ahead of the turntable constellation with a stunningly refreshing kinda sound. This is the 'all genres considered' milieu... where dusty Malian Blues takes a night stroll with Dub, Naija hip hop flirts dangerously with Kingston Dancehall grit,  and bubbly Brazilian Electronica steams a peace pipe with Afro-Jazz futurism. 
 
For this self-described 'bird', she is always reaching beyond the beyond and fetching back what she terms as musical source-code. In that, we can find a song or a groove so undeniable in it's appeal that it not only builds on the idea of the universality of music but of sound itself. Her musical selections have a way of running past the dance-able and the obvious. Usually, the next stop is a bold convergence of history and magic - one that playfully wields the listener into the lush, downright sensuous terrain that music can be. 
 
For Sankofa, hers is an imagined and realized terrain where digital divides are effortlesly bridged in 128 BPMs and new music lifts a hat to traditional sounds via a kind of time-travelling-self-discovering-remixing sort of aesthetic.

Route

The Digicel Foundation 5K Run/Walk will commence at the Digicel Headquarters, 14 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston. It will proceed west along Ocean Boulevard, left onto Port Royal Street, around the bend onto Water Lane, right onto Pechon Street then left onto Harbour Street, left onto King Street, left onto South Parade, right onto West Parade, right onto North Parade, then right onto East Parade to Church Street, left onto Harbour Street, right at the corner of Exchange Place, right onto Port Royal Street, left at the corner of Duke Street onto Ocean Boulevard finishing at the same start point.


All roads leading to the staging area will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
The course will feature water stops at the Start/Finish and two along the course to ensure adequate hydration.
Qualified medical personnel will be on hand for first aid needs.
Adequate security will be provided on the route and at select parking lots.


Registration 

Individuals and teams can register online with either credit or debit cards. Registration closes Sunday, October 6, 2013 or upon achieving the event limit, whichever comes first.

A donation of J$1,000 is requested per person. Entries are NOT REFUNDABLE or TRANSFERABLE.

Race numbers can be collected between Tuesday, October 22 and Friday, October 25 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Digicel Headquarters.


Awards

The awards will be presented immediately after the race, once the results are available:


Overall Male/Female Run/Walk/Wheelchair (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Youngest/Oldest Run/Walk Finishers
Champion Run/Walk Team
Largest Participating Team


Timing

The event will be chip timed using the MyLaps BibTag system, with results available immediately after the race.

After Party

Join the exciting post-race celebrations as we fete until 11:00pm with Brand Ambassadors Tifa and I-Octane.
