The enchanting, all-ages, holiday walk-through festival, Imaginarium “Winter Wonderland” has returned to Phoenix at Mesa’s Superstition Springs Center, open now through Sunday, March 30. Guests of all ages can immerse themselves in a glowing tapestry of holiday-inspired magic, where every corner reveals new wonders and memories waiting to be made along with seasonal enchantment featuring millions of shimmering lights, whimsical displays and dazzling interactive experiences.

Imaginarium “Winter Wonderland” at Superstition Springs Center, located at 6555 E. Southern Ave., is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. General admission tickets start at $24 per person, with discount ticket prices available for children ages three to 12, seniors over 62 and military with valid I.D. Children under three are free. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase. Parking is free. Tickets may be purchased online on the website or by calling 725-272-2700.

Cultural Coalition will host First Friday Open Gallery Nights at its new Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery beginning February 7 through May 2 at Arizona Center in Downtown Phoenix.


The gallery showcases the unique artistic vision of Zarco Guerrero, a renowned artist, storyteller, and master sculptor. Featuring over 200 captivating works of art that span Guerrero's 50 year career, it is a colorful, joyful, and immersive cultural experience. Visitors will feel the transformative power of the mask as they explore the gallery full of over-sized 10-foot puppets, a quetzalcoatl performance art piece, bronze sculptures, upcycled mandalas, and over 100 different carved and sculpted masks.


"It is a dream come true to unveil the Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery and share the incredible artistry of Zarco Guerrero with the Phoenix community," said Carmen Guerrero, Cultural Coalition Executive Director. "Made possible thanks to Arizona Center, the space will also serve as a community hub as a legacy to the power of art to inspire, educate, and connect us to diverse cultures, traditions, and to each other."


The First Friday Open Gallery Nights will include:


Art Exhibition: Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Mask Alive Art Collection Gallery

Demonstrations: Artist demonstrations and live art

Family Activities: Visitors of all ages can make their own masks inspired by the creations of the artist

Shopping: Artwork by Zarco, Carmen, and other artists will be available for purchase in the gallery


For Zarco, this gallery is a continuation of his desire to connect culture and community, “This retrospective of my art represents a culmination of over 50 years of mask making work we’ve done with various ballet folklórico, mariachi, theater groups, and performance artists to take art into our communities. To ensure that art thrives! It lives! And we’re in this space to keep making that happen.”


Beginning in February, the Mask Alive space will offer visitor hours and First & Third Friday activations available for free to the public. Performances and artist workshops will also be available throughout the month, starting with beading and masking making, now open for registration. Celebrate the newly commissioned mural in the Museum’s main lobby by Eamon Ore-Giron with an artist panel featuring five muralists, in-gallery sketching, music, and local food trucks!

 * A muralist panel moderated by Danielle Foushée in discussion with artists Sentrock, La Morena, Giovannie Dixon, and Martin Moreno. Hear as they share their experiences, creative process, and the impact of their work on their communities.

 * Neon inspired art-making activity with artist Lily Reeves.

The doors to The Little Carver open at 5:30pm, and the film begins at 6pm.

“Ida B. Wells: A Passion For Justice” (NR) (1989, 54 mins.) documents the dramatic life and turbulent times of the pioneering African American journalist, activist, suffragist and anti-lynching crusader of the post-Reconstruction period. At the time of the film’s initial release on The American Experience in late December 1989, Wells had been virtually forgotten, her autobiography long out of print. However, Wells was a household name in Black America during much of her lifetime (1863-1931) and was considered the equal of such well-known contemporary African American leaders as Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois.

The words of Wells are brought to life in the film through the performance of Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison as she reads selections from Wells’ memoir, Crusade for Justice,and other writings.
