The Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival is not only the biggest annual event in Downtown Rapid City [https://www.visitrapidcity.com/things-to-do/downtown-rapid-city/] but a beloved tradition that embodies the heart and soul of the fall season. From Main Street Square [https://www.visitrapidcity.com/listing/main-street-square/567/] to Memorial Park [https://www.visitrapidcity.com/listing/memorial-park/854/], this festival is a sprawling celebration that has something for everyone.
From 10am to 4pm, The Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival brings to life a variety of festive fall fun. Shop from a large selection of local vendors, taste your way through the creations of local food trucks, and participate in all the pumpkin themed fun. This event is free, family-friendly, and the greatest way to kick-off the fall season in Rapid City.
Here’s what’s in store:
- Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off: Who grew the biggest gourd in town? Come find out!
- Kidz Zone: Enjoy bouncing castles and yard games, courtesy of Monument Health, Scull Constructions, & The Law Offices of Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson & Ashmore.
- 3 Buck Chuck: Test your aim by tossing pumpkins at fall-themed targets, brought to you by Casey Peterson.
- 70+ Vendors: Discover unique crafts, tasty food, and more from various shops!
- Pumpkin Chunkin': Watch local students' trebuchets in action as they compete in three thrilling rounds of pumpkin launching. This fun is brought to you by RESPEC!
- Touch-a-Truck: Kids can explore and climb aboard big trucks from all over.
- Pumpkin Painting Station: Get creative at our Pumpkin Painting Station, brought to you by Formanek Electric.
- Pumpkin Carving Contest: Show off your artistic side! Register your carved or painted pumpkin for live voting at the festival.
- Pumpkin Pub Crawl: From 12pm to 7pm, tour seasonal adult beverages at participating downtown businesses.
- Downtown Business Scarecrow Contest: Vote for your favorite scarecrow! Voting can be done via QR code attached to each scarecrow, at the Rapid City Visitors Center (613 Main Street), or at the Pumpkin Festival.
