The Mona Entrepreneurial and Commercialization Centre (MECC), formerly known as the Mona Business Support Services (MBSS), is a dynamic business incubator located at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus. MECC is dedicated to fostering local and student entrepreneurship, with a special focus on the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. Our journey began as a support hub for startup ventures and has evolved into a social enterprise committed to empowering vulnerable communities and driving economic development across Jamaica and the wider region.

At MECC, we offer a comprehensive suite of services, including workspace, business advisory, and legal support, particularly in Intellectual Property Strategy and Internationalization. With almost seven years of experience, we have successfully supported over 100 clients, facilitated the creation of more than 1,000 jobs, and established over 5,000 entrepreneurial connections. Our clients have collectively received over USD 2.5 million in awards, grants, and investments, including accolades from prestigious competitions such as StartUp Chile Demo Week and the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI).

Our mission is to transform ideas into sustainable businesses by providing tailored support throughout the incubation process. We aim to be a regional leader in incubation and commercialization services, empowering entrepreneurs to drive innovation, enhance regional competitiveness, and contribute to poverty alleviation and economic equity. MECC places a strong emphasis on supporting women-led, youth-led, and differently-abled enterprises, ensuring inclusive growth and opportunities for all.
