2022 Landscape Architecture Immersive Studio Exhibition
The Great Basin region of Utah and Nevada is a vast, often poorly understood and perceived as “nowhere”. As part of the 2022 landscape architecture immersive studio, 15 students and four faculty spent 10 days traveling through the Great Basin landscape, seeking a deeper understanding of place and region unlike most other places. Experiencing the work of land artists Smithson, Holt and Heizer, as well as their own immersive experiences within the expansive salt flats, students engaged all their sensory faculties in developing an understanding and interpretation of place. The exhibit, through description of the immersive experience and interpretations expressed through drawings, photography and three-dimensional models represents both the discoveries and interpretations of a place.
