Dwele is the stage name for Andwele Gardner, a soul singer/songwriter from Detroit, Michigan who emotionally charged brand of soul and R&B comes from the tragic memory of witnessing his father being shot to death when he was only 10. Dwele began his career as a collaborative artist who provided backing vocals for more successful R&B and hip-hop acts, many of whom saw a major increase in sales and critical acclaim as a result of Dwele's contributions. Since 2000, Dwele has released several albums that show an upwards trajectory with regards to their performance on the US charts, boding very well for the soul artist's present and future mainstream success in the genre.
